National ID Redux 

And now I reply to Andrew: The problem with the bill in question is that it forces states to link their id databases together into one national database. If all the info is together, and you have to have an ID to do many common things like board and airplane, than you have a defacto national ID. The national database is the key. Remove that from the bill, and it's less worrisome; however, it is still laying the groundwork, even without the national database, for the next logical step of creating a national ID.
